THE STORY BEHIND TICHUCA'S ROOFTOP TREE

Updated: Oct 17

When you step out onto the rooftop at Tichuca and see that towering bamboo tree glowing against Bangkok’s skyline, it feels almost surreal. It’s beautiful, yes, but there’s also something grounding about it. In the middle of all the steel, glass, and neon, there’s this living, breathing symbol of nature.

That tree didn’t just happen. It came from the hands and hearts of Bamboosaurus Studio, a team that has been working with bamboo for over seven years. No one understands the potential of this material quite like they do. For them, bamboo isn’t just a building resource. It’s a language, a philosophy, and a constant challenge to design something that respects the nature of the material while pushing its boundaries. Over the years, Bamboosaurus has created everything from forest bridges to community pavilions to houses by the sea on Koh Phangan. Each project begins with real-world experiments, learning how bamboo behaves in heat, rain, and wind. Every curve, joint, and angle is designed to work with Thailand’s climate rather than fight against it.

At Tichuca, they brought that expertise into the city, high above the streets of Thonglor. The bamboo tree on our rooftop is more than just a striking visual centerpiece. It’s a reminder that even in a fast-paced, high-rise world, natural materials still have a place. It’s also a testament to the skill and vision of local designers who believe in bamboo’s potential, even when architectural projects using it are still rare in Thailand.

For us, this tree represents collaboration. It’s the meeting point between urban nightlife and traditional craftsmanship, between cutting-edge rooftop design and the quiet wisdom of natural materials. And it’s proof that sustainability can be beautiful, bold, and unforgettable.

So next time you find yourself at Tichuca, maybe with a cocktail in hand and the skyline glittering around you, take a moment to look at the tree. Behind it is a story of patience, creativity, and a deep respect for nature that we’re proud to share with everyone who walks through our doors.
